MacBook Battery Replacement
The battery is a wear part — on a MacBook too, however good Apple is, after a few years and a few hundred charge cycles the capacity drops. The MacBook shuts down even though it says 30%, lasts an hour or two instead of all day, or macOS has already shown you “Service Recommended” in the battery status. We replace batteries on all MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models — both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1–M4).
When it’s time for a new battery
- The battery status says “Service Recommended” (macOS shows this once the capacity has dropped seriously)
- The MacBook shuts down abruptly even though it shows 20–40%, or dies the moment you unplug the charger
- Runtime is halved — two or three hours instead of eight to ten
- The cycle count is high (over ~800–1000, depending on the model) — check in System Settings → Battery → Battery Health or, on older systems, About This Mac
- The battery has swollen — the trackpad is harder to click or looks raised, the bottom cover bulges, or the laptop no longer sits flat on the desk
A swollen battery is not cosmetic but a safety risk — lithium cells under pressure should be replaced as soon as possible, and the MacBook should not be used in that state. If you notice a bulge, stop charging it and get in touch.
How we do the replacement
On most MacBook models the battery is glued to the chassis (Apple uses strong adhesive strips or, on older Pro models, glue). Removing it takes patience and the right tools — gentle heat, adhesive remover and careful lifting, so the bottom cover, trackpad or the ribbon cables under the battery aren’t damaged. We don’t rip the battery out by force.
We fit a battery of the correct capacity and quality for your exact model (we check the A-number on the bottom), clean off the old adhesive, apply new strips and, after fitting, run a check and calibration — so macOS reads the percentage accurately and the full/empty states are correct. The old swollen battery is disposed of properly (not in regular waste).
Prices — in the official price list
The price depends on the MacBook model (Air/Pro, year, Intel or Apple Silicon). Diagnostics without disassembly are free, and we confirm the exact battery and labour price before we start — we do nothing without your approval. The labour price is in the price list; the battery itself is priced for your exact model.
How long it takes and the warranty
When we have the battery for your model, the replacement is usually done the same or the next day. For newer and rarer models we order the battery, so the time depends on availability — we tell you exactly after the inspection. You get a warranty on the fitted battery and on the work, all written on your service sheet. You track the repair status online, with no need to call.
Independent service — clear and honest
We are not an authorised Apple service and do not present ourselves as Apple; we use “MacBook”, “Mac” and “Apple” only to describe the devices we repair. We do a quality battery replacement at a fair price, with a warranty on our work. If you need something else on your Mac, there is also general MacBook service.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know how worn my battery is?
On macOS open System Settings → Battery → Battery Health (on older systems: hold Option and click the battery icon, or About This Mac → System Report → Power). There you see the condition (“Normal” or “Service Recommended”) and the cycle count. If you are not sure, bring the MacBook in — we read everything and honestly tell you whether the battery really needs replacing.
My battery has swollen — is it dangerous?
Yes, a swollen lithium battery is a safety risk and pushes the trackpad and bottom cover from the inside. Don’t charge or press it any further. We’ll replace it and dispose of the old one properly. The sooner you act, the smaller the chance of extra damage to the trackpad or chassis.
Do you replace batteries on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) MacBooks too?
Yes, we do both Intel and Apple Silicon models. On the M-chips the SSD and RAM are soldered (they can’t be upgraded), but the battery is replaceable — it’s glued, so removing it takes the right tools and patience, which is exactly what we do.
How long does it take and do I lose my data?
We don’t touch your data — a battery replacement is a hardware job and your files, apps and settings stay untouched. When we have the battery for your model it’s usually done the same or the next day; for rarer models we order it and tell you the time after the inspection.
