SSD Installation and Upgrade
If your laptop or desktop takes forever to start up, programs open slowly, and the cursor “spins” while you wait for something to happen, the culprit is usually an old mechanical hard drive. Replacing that drive with an SSD is by far the most cost-effective upgrade you can make — the same computer feels brand new, and you don’t have to buy a new one.
Most common symptoms / when you need this
- The computer takes up to several minutes just to reach the desktop
- The hard drive “clicks” or makes a grinding sound, as if something inside is scraping
- Windows reports the disk running at 100% even when you’re doing nothing
- Programs and your browser open with a lag, everything “freezes”
- You’re running out of space and want a bigger, faster drive at the same time
- You have an older laptop that’s otherwise fine, just slow
What exactly we do
First we check the health of your existing drive and which type of SSD your device supports — some laptops only take a classic 2.5″ SATA SSD, while newer ones have an M.2 slot (SATA or the faster NVMe). Choosing the right one matters, because the wrong one simply won’t work in that computer.
The biggest part of the job is cloning the system onto the SSD. That means we transfer your Windows, all your programs, folders, passwords and settings one-to-one onto the new drive — you turn the computer on and everything is right where you left it, only many times faster. No reinstallation, no data loss, nothing to set up again. If the drive has bad sectors so cloning isn’t a smart move, we’ll agree on a clean installation and transfer your files.
On laptops that have two slots, we often keep the old drive as extra storage for photos and movies, while the system goes on the SSD. That way you get both speed and space.
How it works
Diagnostics are free if the device doesn’t need to be opened up — just tell us what’s going on and we’ll check what your computer supports and whether the drive is okay.
You can get the device to us either by having a courier pick up the device and return it repaired to your address, or by bringing it to one of our shops — we have three in Belgrade: near Arena, in New Belgrade by Piramida, and downtown near the Botanical Garden. After inspection we tell you exactly what needs doing, how long it takes and how much it costs — the price is in the price list, with no surprises later. You approve the work; we don’t touch anything until we agree.
Why choose us
We install SSDs and clone systems every day, on everything from old ThinkPads to the latest ultrabooks, so we know where the pitfalls are on which models. We give a warranty on the work we do, and the SSD comes with the manufacturer’s factory warranty. We tell you the price and the process up front — what we agree on is what you pay. Your data stays yours: we clone it, we don’t delete it and we don’t look at it. If you need a full checkup of the machine, there’s also laptop repair and desktop repair.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my data when I switch to an SSD?
No. With cloning we transfer the entire contents of the drive onto the new SSD, so everything stays in its place. We always advise keeping your own backup of your most important files, just to be safe, but in practice nothing gets lost.
How long does the installation take?
The swap itself is quick, but cloning the system can take a while depending on the amount of data and the condition of the old drive. Most often the device is ready the same or the next day. We give you an exact timeframe after the inspection.
Can my laptop even take an SSD?
Almost any laptop from the last ten years or so can. There are various types (SATA, M.2, NVMe) and we check which one fits your exact model before we order or install anything. You can also track the repair status via status check.
