How to find your exact Acer model
Acer uses an SNID and a serial number. Where they are:
- The label on the bottom — the line marked “SNID” and “S/N”, plus the model name (e.g. Aspire A515-56)

The most common Acer laptop faults
Slow performance — the HDD in Aspire models
The most common reason people bring us an Acer Aspire: the system boots slowly, everything stutters. Most of the cheaper Aspire models came with an ordinary hard drive (HDD). Fitting an SSD is the most worthwhile upgrade — the laptop boots 5–10 times faster, with everything left as it was. It is a job we do the same day.
Hinges and plastic
Because of the cheaper materials, the hinges and frame on the Aspire line tend to crack. We repair/reinforce them before they pull on the screen.
Overheating (Nitro, Predator)
The gaming Nitro and Predator, like all gaming laptops, need regular cleaning and a repaste so they don’t thermal-throttle.
Battery
After 2–3 years the battery weakens — replacement is straightforward on most models.
