RAM Memory Upgrade

RAM Memory Upgrade

Does your computer start to lag the moment you open a couple of browser tabs, and opening Excel takes about as long as brewing a cup of coffee? In nine out of ten cases the problem isn’t the processor or the drive — it’s simply too little working memory. A RAM upgrade is the cheapest fix that genuinely brings both laptops and desktops back to life, and it’s usually done the same day.

Most common symptoms / when you need this

  • The computer slows down when you open several programs or tabs at once
  • The drive is constantly at 100% even when you aren’t doing anything heavy (Windows is „smuggling” memory onto the disk)
  • Programs freeze, then suddenly „snap back” after a few seconds
  • Video calls, Photoshop, AutoCAD, or games stutter and close on their own
  • An older laptop with 4 GB that simply can’t keep up with today’s Windows 11 anymore
  • You plan to keep the machine for a few more years instead of buying a new one

What exactly we do

First we look at what actually makes sense. Not all RAM is the same and not every module is compatible — what matters is the type (DDR3, DDR4, DDR5), the speed, the number of slots on the board, and how much memory the motherboard and processor even support. On laptops we also check whether the memory sits in a slot (replaceable) or is soldered to the board (not replaceable — in which case we look for another solution).

Once we’ve established the limit, we pick a module that fits — either topping up the existing memory, or swapping smaller modules for larger ones to take advantage of dual-channel, which is noticeably faster. After installation we run a memtest to make sure the new memory is stable and error-free, and we verify that the system has actually recognized all of it. If we see that the drive is dragging everything down, or that the lag isn’t coming from memory, we’ll tell you honestly instead of selling you something you don’t need.

How it works

You have two options, whichever is easier for you. You can drop off the device at one of our three locations in Belgrade — Arena, Piramida, and Centar near the Botanical Garden. If coming in doesn’t suit you, a courier picks up the device from your address, we sort it out, and the courier brings it back repaired.

Diagnostics are free if the device doesn’t need to be opened up. Since RAM in a laptop is, as a rule, replaced behind a cover panel, we state that part of the job and any cost clearly up front — we don’t do anything without your approval. You can always see the specific figures for modules and labor in our price list, and after the inspection you get an exact price before we touch anything.

Why choose us

We replace RAM every day, across every generation of machine — from old DDR3 laptops to new DDR5 desktops. We give a warranty on the installed components and on the labor itself, so if something acts up afterward, we take care of it. No inventing faults and no „you need this and that too” — we tell you exactly what’s needed, how much it costs, and how long it takes. You can track the repair status online through our status check, with no calling and no waiting.

If you suspect the problem isn’t only the memory, take a look at our laptop service or desktop service — a RAM upgrade and a move to an SSD often go hand in hand, and only then do you see the real difference in speed.

Frequently asked questions

How much RAM do I need?

For everyday work, the internet, and office tasks, 8 GB is today’s sensible minimum, while 16 GB is where you feel comfortable. For heavier tasks — video editing, CAD, virtual machines, more serious gaming — we go to 32 GB or more. We advise you based on how you actually use your computer, not with a blanket answer.

Can literally every laptop be upgraded?

No, unfortunately. On some thinner and newer models the memory is soldered to the motherboard and physically cannot be changed. That’s why the first thing we do is check your model — and we tell you right away whether an upgrade even exists as an option before you order anything.

Will I lose my data?

No. A memory upgrade doesn’t touch the drive or your files — Windows and all your programs stay exactly as they were. Everything simply runs faster.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a RAM upgrade take?
The installation itself is quick, usually the same day, as soon as we confirm the memory is the right one. Before we fit anything we check which type of RAM your computer takes (DDR3/DDR4/DDR5), how many slots it has and what the maximum is, so you don't end up buying the wrong modules. If the part has to be ordered, we tell you the timeframe up front.
How much does a RAM upgrade cost?
Diagnostics are free, and we tell you the exact price after we've looked at the machine, because it depends on how much memory you're adding and whether you bring it yourself or we source it. Rough prices are listed in our price list. You always get a firm figure before any work starts, and only then do we begin.
How much RAM do I actually need?
For everyday work, browsing and Office, 8 GB is the minimum these days, and 16 GB is comfortable for most people. If you keep a lot of tabs open, edit video, run virtual machines or use heavier software, then 32 GB is the way to go. Tell us what you use the computer for and we'll suggest exactly how much actually makes sense.
Is it worth adding RAM to an older computer?
If the machine stalls the moment you open a few things at once, extra RAM makes a real difference and costs far less than a new computer. You get the best result when the RAM goes in alongside an SSD — those two together make an old machine perfectly usable again. After we check it, we'll tell you honestly whether it pays off or whether you're better off thinking about a replacement.
How do I get the computer to you, and is there a warranty?
You bring the device to one of our three shops in Belgrade (Arena, Piramida, Centar), or we send a courier to collect it and bring it back — whichever suits you better. You get a warranty on the memory we install and on our work, all written down on your service sheet. If we take out the old memory, you get it back together with the device.
